NT จัดพิธีวันสื่อสารแห่งชาติ 2569 พร้อมย้อนที่มา 4 สิงหาคม วันเปิดกิจการไปรษณีย์ไทย และรำลึกผู้วางรากฐานการสื่อสารของประเทศ
เนื่องในวันสื่อสารแห่งชาติ ประจำปี 2569 บริษัท โทรคมนาคมแห่งชาติ จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ NT จัดพิธีถวายเครื่องสักการะพระอนุสาวรีย์จอมพล สมเด็จพระราชปิตุลา บรมพงศาภิมุข เจ้าฟ้าภาณุรังษีสว่างวงศ์ กรมพระยาภาณุพันธุวงศ์วรเดช ณ สำนักงานใหญ่ NT ถนนแจ้งวัฒนะ เพื่อรำลึกถึงพระกรุณาธิคุณที่ทรงมีต่อกิจการไปรษณีย์และการสื่อสารโทรคมนาคมไทย
พระองค์ทรงได้รับแต่งตั้งให้เป็นอธิบดีผู้สำเร็จราชการพระองค์แรกของกรมไปรษณีย์และกรมโทรเลขเมื่อวันที่ 4 สิงหาคม 2426 ก่อนที่ทั้งสองหน่วยงานจะรวมเป็นกรมไปรษณีย์โทรเลขในปี 2441 และทรงได้รับการยกย่องเป็น “พระบิดาแห่งการไปรษณีย์ไทย”
ต่อมาคณะรัฐมนตรีมีมติเมื่อวันที่ 2 สิงหาคม 2526 ให้วันที่ 4 สิงหาคมของทุกปีเป็นวันสื่อสารแห่งชาติ เพื่อระลึกถึงจุดเริ่มต้นของกิจการไปรษณีย์ รวมถึงบทบาทของระบบสื่อสารที่มีต่อการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมของประเทศ
โครงสร้างกิจการสื่อสารของไทยได้รับการปรับเปลี่ยนตามยุคสมัย จนถึงการควบรวม CAT และ TOT เมื่อวันที่ 7 มกราคม 2564 เป็น NT รัฐวิสาหกิจภายใต้กระทรวงดิจิทัลเพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม ซึ่งรับผิดชอบบริการสื่อสารโทรคมนาคมทั้งภายในประเทศและระหว่างประเทศ
NT กำหนดจัดพิธีถวายเครื่องสักการะในวันที่ 4 สิงหาคมเป็นประจำทุกปี เพื่อรำลึกถึงรากฐานการพัฒนากิจการไปรษณีย์และโทรคมนาคม ซึ่งมีบทบาทต่อการเชื่อมโยงผู้คนและขับเคลื่อนประเทศมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
NT Traces August 4 from the Birth of Thai Postal Services to National Communications Day
August 4 is observed annually as Thailand’s National Communications Day, marking a date closely linked to the official launch of the country’s postal services in 1883 and a major milestone in the development of Thailand’s communications infrastructure.
To commemorate National Communications Day 2026, National Telecom Public Company Limited, or NT, held a ceremony at its headquarters on Chaeng Watthana Road to pay tribute to Prince Bhanurangsi Savangwongse, whose work helped lay the foundations of Thailand’s postal and telecommunications services.
He was appointed the first director-general overseeing both the Post Department and the Telegraph Department on August 4, 1883. The two agencies were later merged into the Post and Telegraph Department in 1898, while he became widely honoured as the “Father of Thai Postal Services.”
The Cabinet resolved on August 2, 1983, to designate August 4 as National Communications Day, recognising the beginnings of Thailand’s postal system and the broader role of communications in the country’s economic and social development.
Thailand’s communications agencies continued to evolve over time. On January 7, 2021, CAT and TOT were merged to form NT, a state enterprise under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society responsible for domestic and international telecommunications services.
NT holds the commemorative ceremony every August 4 to honour the origins of Thailand’s postal and telecommunications sector and its continuing role in connecting people and supporting national development.
