FedEx ร่วมมูลนิธิรักษ์ไทย ฟื้นฟูป่าชายเลนบางปู ปลูกโกงกาง 2,000 ต้น ปล่อยปู 200 ตัว พร้อมอาสาสมัครกว่า 50 คนรับมือปัญหากัดเซาะชายฝั่ง
FedEx ร่วมกับมูลนิธิรักษ์ไทยเดินหน้าฟื้นฟูป่าชายเลนบริเวณศูนย์ศึกษาธรรมชาติกองทัพบก (บางปู) จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ ภายใต้โครงการ FedEx Cares โดยมีอาสาสมัครพนักงานกว่า 50 คน ร่วมปลูกต้นโกงกาง 2,000 ต้น ทำความสะอาดพื้นที่ชายฝั่ง และปล่อยปู 200 ตัว เพื่อช่วยฟื้นฟูระบบนิเวศและเพิ่มความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ
กิจกรรมดังกล่าวเกิดขึ้นท่ามกลางปัญหาการกัดเซาะชายฝั่งที่ยังเป็นความท้าทายสำคัญ โดยข้อมูลจากกรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่งที่อ้างถึงในข่าวประชาสัมพันธ์ระบุว่า จังหวัดสมุทรปราการเป็นหนึ่งในพื้นที่ที่ได้รับผลกระทบรุนแรง และมีอัตราการถอยร่นของแนวชายฝั่งเฉลี่ยมากกว่า 5 เมตรต่อปี
ป่าชายเลนจึงมีบทบาททั้งในการลดแรงปะทะของคลื่น ช่วยรักษาเสถียรภาพของแนวชายฝั่ง และเป็นแหล่งที่อยู่อาศัยของสัตว์น้ำ ซึ่งการปลูกโกงกางและปล่อยปูในครั้งนี้ถูกวางให้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการฟื้นฟูระบบนิเวศชายฝั่งในพื้นที่
กิจกรรมจัดขึ้นภายใต้ FedEx Purple Week of Service หรือสัปดาห์จิตอาสา ซึ่งเปิดตัวเป็นครั้งแรกในปีนี้ เพื่อส่งเสริมให้พนักงานเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมกับกิจกรรมเพื่อชุมชนและสิ่งแวดล้อม
ศศธร ภาสภิญโญ กรรมการผู้จัดการ FedEx ประเทศไทย กล่าวว่า “เราภูมิใจที่ได้ร่วมสนับสนุนการฟื้นฟูป่าชายเลน ซึ่งมีบทบาทสำคัญในการปกป้องพื้นที่ชายฝั่งของประเทศไทย พร้อมทั้งร่วมส่งเสริมความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ และช่วยสร้างระบบนิเวศที่สมบูรณ์ยิ่งขึ้น”
ด้านณิชชา โตรักตระกูล ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายพัฒนาแหล่งทุน มูลนิธิรักษ์ไทย ระบุว่า การฟื้นฟูป่าชายเลนจำเป็นต้องอาศัยความร่วมมืออย่างต่อเนื่องจากหลายภาคส่วน เพราะพื้นที่ดังกล่าวมีความสำคัญทั้งต่อการปกป้องชายฝั่ง ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ และความสามารถของชุมชนในการรับมือผลกระทบจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ
กิจกรรมครั้งนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ FedEx Cares โครงการเพื่อสังคมระดับโลกของ FedEx ที่เน้นกิจกรรมจิตอาสาและการมีส่วนร่วมกับชุมชน เพื่อสร้างผลลัพธ์ด้านสังคมและสิ่งแวดล้อมในพื้นที่ต่าง ๆ
FedEx and Raks Thai Foundation Plant 2,000 Mangroves and Release 200 Crabs to Restore Bang Pu Coastal Ecosystem
FedEx has partnered with the Raks Thai Foundation to restore mangrove areas at the Bang Pu Army Nature Education Center in Samut Prakan under the FedEx Cares program. More than 50 FedEx volunteers joined the activity, planting 2,000 mangrove trees, cleaning the coastal area and releasing 200 crabs to help restore the ecosystem and support biodiversity.
The initiative comes amid continued concern over coastal erosion in Thailand. According to Department of Marine and Coastal Resources data cited in the press release, Samut Prakan is among the areas facing severe coastal erosion, with the shoreline retreating by an average of more than five meters per year.
Mangrove forests play an important role in reducing wave impact, stabilizing shorelines and providing habitats for marine species. The tree planting and crab release were therefore designed as part of a broader effort to strengthen the coastal ecosystem in the area.
The activity was held during FedEx Purple Week of Service, a volunteer initiative launched for the first time this year to encourage employees to contribute to communities and environmental projects.
“We are proud to support mangrove restoration, which plays an important role in protecting Thailand’s coastal areas, while also promoting biodiversity and helping create a healthier ecosystem,” said Sasatorn Pasapinyo, Managing Director of FedEx Thailand.
Nichcha Toraktrakul, Director of Resource Development at the Raks Thai Foundation, said mangrove restoration requires continued cooperation across sectors because the ecosystems are critical to coastal protection, biodiversity and the ability of communities to cope with the impacts of climate change.
The activity forms part of FedEx Cares, the company’s global social responsibility program focused on volunteerism and community engagement to create social and environmental impact.
