Grab Expands Suvarnabhumi Pick-Up Area to 12 Lanes as PIN System Cuts Waiting Time by 40%

Grab Thailand has expanded its passenger pick-up area at Suvarnabhumi Airport to 12 lanes and introduced a PIN-based queuing and driver-matching system. According to data from a one-month trial, the system reduced passenger waiting times by 40%, while 98% of users awarded the service a five-star satisfaction rating.

The upgrade is intended to accommodate higher demand during the travel high season, particularly in the fourth quarter. Grab data indicates that airport ride-hailing demand rises by approximately 35–40% compared with normal periods. Airports of Thailand (AOT), meanwhile, expects Suvarnabhumi Airport to handle 67.7 million passengers in 2026.

Arisa Lorthongpaisan, Assistant Managing Director for Mobility and Driver Operations at Grab Thailand, said that Grab, as AOT’s official ride-hailing platform, had expanded the passenger pick-up area on Level 1 at Gate 4 to 12 lanes and developed the PIN system to make the process faster and more convenient.

Under the new system, passengers do not immediately receive a vehicle or driver assignment after confirming a ride. Instead, the app provides a four-digit PIN and directs them to a designated boarding point. Passengers then give the code to the next available driver in the queue to confirm the trip and board the vehicle, reducing the need to locate a specific car and easing congestion around the pick-up area.

Grab has also assigned staff to the location around the clock to assist with bookings, queue management and boarding. The PIN service is available at the Grab Pick-up Point on Level 1 at Gate 4, across lanes A, B, C and D.

Grab is also preparing to introduce its Airport Pickup feature at Suvarnabhumi Airport during the fourth quarter, following its launch at Phuket, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai airports. The feature allows passengers to reserve a vehicle in advance by entering their flight number and choosing either the system’s recommended pick-up time or a preferred time.

Airport Pickup monitors flight status in real time and adjusts the scheduled collection time if a flight is delayed. Grab says the service guarantees an on-time pick-up, with drivers waiting for up to 15 minutes at the boarding point. Passengers may cancel their reservation at least one hour before the scheduled time.

Airport Pickup passengers will board at lane E on Level 1 at Gate 4. The feature will support GrabCar, JustGrab and GrabTaxi services.
