Samsung Electronics has concluded the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany. A team from Malaysia won the championship, while the global YouTube broadcast through streamer Ludwig’s channel generated 12.1 million views.

The 2026 tournament marked the first time #PlayGalaxy Cup was organised as a full-season competition, beginning with regional qualifiers and ending with a two-day World Final at Samsung’s booth inside Koelnmesse.

Qualifying rounds were held across North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe. A total of 32 teams from 17 countries participated, with the top two teams from each region advancing to the final.

The resulting World Final featured 10 teams representing nine countries. Malaysia’s team of San Gaming, VRT1CAA, ADIKBOY and ACAD ultimately secured the season championship.

All competitors used the Galaxy S26 Ultra throughout the final. Samsung positioned the tournament as a demonstration of the smartphone’s processing and thermal-management capabilities during sustained mobile gaming sessions.

David Moon, Head of Influencer Marketing for Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience business, said the full-season format brought together gamers from multiple regions while showcasing Galaxy S26 Ultra gaming performance in a competitive environment.

Ludwig hosted the World Final and streamed the competition globally through his YouTube channel. Samsung reported a combined audience of 12.1 million views.

Samsung also operated a Galaxy Experience Zone at Gamescom, where attendees could try the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Games from HoYoverse, TiMi Studio and Gameloft were available across the Galaxy smartphone line-up.
