HP has announced the appointment of Emma Walmsley, former Chief Executive Officer of GSK, as its new Chief Executive Officer, with the appointment taking effect on January 4, 2027. The board of directors reached a unanimous decision following an executive recruitment process focused on candidates with proven records in steering multinational operations through complex, fast-changing business environments.
Walmsley brings industry leadership built across multiple international sectors, including nearly nine years leading major organizational transformation and operational performance gains as Chief Executive Officer of GSK. Her executive background also includes 17 years at L’Oréal developing and directing global consumer goods business units, providing extensive consumer insight capabilities to generate corporate growth opportunities.
In the technology arena, Walmsley serves with more than seven years of governance experience on the board of directors of Microsoft. Her background combines enterprise management experience with technology sector oversight, positioning her to align the core business strengths, capabilities, and workforce of HP as artificial intelligence technologies alter workplace workflows and daily life.
